Please don’t let summer be over before it’s begun! We’ve had a scorching 2 weeks right up to the Jubilee, then the heavens opened and it has rained pretty much ever since. It’s been so wet and cold I’ve had to turn the heating back on.
It’s June -give us a break! My eldest daughter has been pacing round the house like a caged tiger and all of my best distraction and tantrum stopping techniques are beginning to fail.
The poor old chickens are so fed up they have been spending their time huddled under the over hanging ivy. They have a perfectly warm, dry coop, but they prefer to play the hardened martyrs!
My big attempt at vegetable growing could become nothing more than a soggy mess. Why oh why didn’t I plant watermelons!
I’m currently reading the new Joanne Harris novel – Peaches for Monsieur Le Curé, it’s the 3rd book in the Chocolat series and it has done nothing to ease my glum face about the weather. The book of course is set in a sunny little village in the South West of France, so right now I just want to be there. I want to be in the French countryside lying in a hammock with my babies asleep at one end of it, a glass of chilled Rosé in one hand a book in the other. My husband will be barbecuing fresh seafood for lunch and there is silence apart from the buzzing bees and singing birds. Ahh bliss, but alas just a dream.
