Has Spring Sprung!

We have had some amazing spring like weather this week, blue skies and lots of sunshine.  Needless to say, I have had the girls outside as much as possible.  I have apparently torn my shoulder cuff and my right arm is in agony.  I can use it if I keep it waist height, anything more than that and I’m yelping.  Taking them outside has let them burn energy and made things easier on me – a lot less lifting, carrying and clearing up needed!

We went on a Pooh Bear  “Expotition” down to our wee wood, to see how the bluebells were coming along.  I got some nice spring time shots and used some on my post for the #OneWeek linky.  We had such a lovely day though, that I wanted to share them with Country Kids too.  I was very proud of our youngest girl, at 16 months she managed to walk the entire distance of just over half a mile.

The Bluebells are not in bloom just yet, but the floor was a carpet of green shoots, the buds were appearing on all the trees and the birds were acting – to use the words of Thumper from Bambi – Twitterpated!

The girls were in their element and our eldest kept shouting to her baby sister to “come on into the spooky forest” – I think she was actually slightly disappointed that the forest was not in the least bit spooky!

When they finally exhausted themselves, we made the trek back home, using a combination of left hip carrying and piggy backs.  It was an early to bed night in our house, with the promise to go back when the green shoot carpet has turned into a fantastic lilac blue.

If you and your children love the outdoors as much as we do, then why not pop over to Country Kids and link up and share your fun with us all.

  1. Gorgeous photos, the woods look beautiful. I’d love to see some photos of the bluebells if you visit when they are in flower, I bet it is a spectacular sight.

    • Thank you, I will definitely post some bluebell pictures. They are usually gorgeous and now the cows can’t get it they should really be fantastic this year. I’ll keep you posted

  2. I love the bluebells. It is April before they come into their own here but they are just a joy to see. The children bring a handful into me each day for the kitchen table as they know how much I love them. I hope your shoulder improves soon, in the mean time the outdoor woods play is perfect to give it a rest and the children some fun! Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.

    • Thank you Fiona. I don’t even know how I hurt it, but I’ve never felt pain like it lol. I’m such a wuss

  3. We have had some really lovely sunshine this week to and today the sun is shining again. I love Country Kids as it makes me want to get out and enjoy the outdoors and my boys, like your girls enjoy the freedom. Great idea to limit the mess at home too :D

    • The sunshine has been lovely, it makes getting out a much nicer experience and usually means we can stay out much longer, just to make sure they’re totally exhausted!

  4. yay to the sunshine and blue sky’s, i hope your shoulder gets better soon, lots of lovely photos xx

    • Thank you Emma, it’s amazing how little I can do one armed. Even trying to brush my hair is a whole drama!

    • The sunshine really does just make me want to abandon the house, I’m also using my arm as an excuse to escape. I can’t do anything inside, so best get outside instead!

    • It has been causing me so much pain Sarah and it’s been about 4 days now, so I’m fed up with it. I’m not a good patient

  5. Looks like you have had a fantastic time, but sorry to hear about your shoulder! Hope it will mend itself soon. Looking forward to you posting a photo of that lilac blue carpet, love bluebells! :)

    • I will definitely post some Bluebell pictures. I’m really getting fed up with my shoulder now, I’m hoping next week it will be much better
